Video/DVD Projectionist
Reports to : Technical Director & Assistant Technical Director
Purpose of Position : Projection of Festival warming screen, Festival Intro & short films on DVD prior to feature films.
Time Frame Needed : During the Festival, Saturdays & Sundays
- 3 shifts per day: early / mid-day / evening
- Shifts start 30 minutes before feature.
Primary Responsibilities :
- Project of the warming screen at the end of the feature film.
- Adjust audio volume.
- Project of the sponsor credits & short films from DVD prior to feature film.
- Co-ordinate timing of video projection with Technical Director & Crest film projectionist.
Other duties which may be required of this position :
- Fix / trouble shoot issues with DVD player, projector, and audio.
- Handle guest relations, deal with unsatisfied/cranky patrons (under specific instructions)
Characteristics of a job well done:
- Professional presentation of the short films through coordination with film projectionist
- Professional presentation of Festival, short films, musicals and transition to features (no blue screen, DVD screen, hide the technical aspects of digital projection).
- Arrive for shift on time

- Reliable and able to commit
- Good technical skills: good understanding of the equipment.
- Desire to contribute to the atmosphere, quality and success of the Festival.

Assistant Technical Director
Position : Assistant Technical Director
Reports to: Technical Director (John)
Purpose of Position : Assist the Technical Director with Festival production
Time Frame Needed : Festival orientation meetings (TBD) & During the Festival
(Opening Night and Mid-day shifts each festival day)
Primary Responsibilities :
- Assist with the Festival production duties of the Technical Director
- Co-ordinate over all event, maintain Festival schedule
- Make sure Festival Director(s) are prepared to present films on time
- Ensure the festival runs smoothly and is presented professionally.
- Co-ordinate scheduling, manage Video Projection
- Co-ordination with the Crest film projectionist for timing of transition between short and feature films
- Train Projectionists as needed
- Ensure Projectionists are completing tasks properly
- Operate of projection equipment when needed
Other duties which may be required of this position :
- Complete duties of absent or tardy Video Projectionists:
- Project the warming screen after the end of the feature film.
- Control audio volume.
- Project the sponsor credits & short films from DVD prior to feature film.
- Coordinate timing of video projection with Technical Director & Crest film projectionist.
- Fix / trouble shoot issues with DVD player, projector, and audio.
- Handle guest relations, dealing with unsatisfied/cranky patrons (under specific instructions).
- Pre-screen feature and short films prior to festival for ability to fully complete duties at a level equal to that of the Technical Director.
Standards of Performance : (Define characteristics of a job well done.)
- Committed to entire Festival, and available for mid-day shifts.
- Complet responsibilities of the Technical Director in his absence, keeps Festival on schedule, ensures professional presentation of Festival, short films, and transition to features (no blue screen, DVD screen, hide the technical aspects of digital projection).

Reception Crew
Reports to: Reception Coordinator
Purpose of Position : Sset up of, service & clean-up at receptions
Time Frame Needed: Before and during receptions
- Opening Friday: afternoon through evening, and/or
- Closing Sunday: late afternoon through evening.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Set up of reception, Box Office & Will Call tables
- Stuffing of Goodie Bags
- Serve, monitor and minimal preparation of food trays during receptions.
- Help clean-up after the reception
Characteristics of a job well done:
- Ensure reception attendees are content with reception (presentation, service).
- Problem solver: anticipate and neutralize problems (long lines, impatient attendees, over-consumption of alcohol.)
Special Qualifications, Education, Skills, Knowledge, and/or Abilities Needed: (Dictated by the requirements of this position.)
- Good at table arranging, in an artistic way.
- Hygienic
- Efficient (must set up and clean up quickly)
- Works well with others (caterers, volunteers)
- Good social skills
Will Call Crew
Reports to: Will Call Coordinator
Purpose of Position:
- To welcome advance purchase and VIP patrons and distribute passes to them in a controlled, efficient, friendly manner.
- Greet VIPs on Opening Night, give them appropriate goodies, and introduce them to Cecile and Connie
Time Frame Needed: Opening Friday, before and during Opening night reception, till opening film begins.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Give Will call envelopes to sponsors, VIPs, and advanced ticket holders
- Record name and number of passes picked up
- Monitor and distribute goodie bags to reception attendees only
- Recognize, welcome and refer VIPs to Cecile & Connie.
Other duties which may be required of this position: Take care of unplanned situations and find ways to avoid or deal with lines.
Characteristics of a job well done:
- Efficiently and pleasantly distribute will call tickets to sponsors, those who have prepaid and VIPs
- VIPs referred to Cecile and Connie.
- No lines, no problems
Special Qualifications, Education, Skills, Knowledge, and/or Abilities Needed: (Dictated by the requirements of this position.)
- Good "people" skills for welcoming and greeting attendees, working with other team members
- Detail oriented, with tracking skills, to note tickets distributed and to be aware of VIP designation
- Efficient
- Works well under pressure
- Positive attitude: able to view the project with enthusiasm
- Outstanding French Film Festival representative (for many patrons, it will be the first encounter with the Festival): must be articulate, personable and must have strong public relations skills to make a good first impression.
- Flexible
- Willingness to help and learn.
- French speaking a plus but not a requirement!
Ushers
Reports to: Volunteer Coordinator
Purpose of Position: Take tickets at the entrance of the theater and ensure a pleasant movie-going experience for viewers.
Time Frame Needed: During the Festival, Saturdays & Sundays
- 3 shifts per day: early / mid-day / evening
- Shifts start 30 minutes before feature.
Primary Responsibilities:
- One person at the entrance door of the Crest Theatre for security.
- Take tickets at the entrance of the theater making sure every attendee gives his/her ticket
- check the back of the ticket stub to ensure it is the right screening and time, return THAT portion to the attendee and retain the blank-backed ticket for pre-screening the drawing
- Distribute programs
- Answer questions or refer to appropriate person, don't let a line form!
- Give drwaing tickets to Executive & Artistic Director (Cecile) or Administrative Director (Connie)
- Put out program recycle box
- Distribute and collect audience film fest evaluation forms at the end of the screening.
Other duties which may be required of this position:
- Trouble shoot problems with patrons

- Assist in giving movie-goers a pleasant experience
- Assure accurate ticket-taking
