Paulette (voice of Clothilde Hesme) raises her daughter Linda on her own since the death of her husband. Feeling guilty after unfairly punishing Linda, she would do anything to make it up to her. Anything? Linda immediately asks for a meal of chicken with peppers, like the one her father used to make. Linda doesn’t remember much about her dad, but she remembers the chicken with peppers and wants to eat it tomorrow! Even if she is a very bad cook, this should be easy enough for Paulette. She has the recipe. But, a general strike is happening, stores are closed, where can she get the chicken? Paulette will not be stopped from keeping her promise. Linda’s innocent request quickly leads to an outrageous series of events involving neighbors, Paulette’s sister (voice of Lætitia Dosch), a delivery man, the slacker son of chicken farmers, and the police! Directors Chiara Malta and Sébastien Laudenbach have created a unique visual style of hand-painted animation with bright, color-blocked characters. The film is a delightful blend of comedy, musical, and family drama, as Paulette and Linda ultimately confront the grief of an unspoken tragedy. Chicken For Linda! won the 2024 César for Best Animated Feature. CHICKEN FOR LINDA! is presented in Partnership with Education Française de Sacramento.
