Little Ones tells the personal journey of a teenage girl grappling with an unexpected pregnancy that turns her life upside down. It is an emotional and uplifting drama starring one of our 2019 guests, Romane Bohringer.

There is no sweet sixteen for Camille (Pili Groyne), who is too far along in her pregnancy to get a legal abortion. After an attempt to end her pregnancy sends her to the hospital, she is placed in a home for teen mothers by a family court judge and separated from her own loving yet toxic mother, who was a teen mom, too.

At the home, Camille meets other struggling and immature teenage mothers, often overwhelmed by their new responsibilities. While waiting to give birth, Camille must decide if she will keep the baby, like her mother did with her, or give it up for adoption. Camille finds a nurturing motherly figure in Nadine (Romane Bohringer, In the Move for Love – SFFF 2019), a social worker as passionate as she is disillusioned, who will ultimately help her make the decision that is right for her.

This sensitive social drama is Julie Lerat-Gersant’s first feature film. It is based on real young women she encountered while leading writing workshops in homes similar to the one in her movie. With beautiful performances by Groyne, Bohringer, and Bilel Chegrani (Hard Shell, Soft Shell, Arthur Rambo - SFFF 2022) as the baby’s father.
